What Tinubu said to Wike during their meeting in Port Harcourt in 2023
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has been praised for his “commitment” to maintaining Nigeria’s unity by Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
According to reports, Tinubu and other prominent APC members met with Governor Wike on Wednesday at the Government House in Port Harcourt. Following the ruling party’s presidential rally at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, the APC leaders paid the governor of Rivers State a visit.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member Governor Wike was informed by the APC presidential candidate that the courtesy call was required because of his utmost respect and admiration for his support of justice, equity, and fairness.
According to Tinubu, he entered the race for president of Nigeria in 2023 on the basis of the philosophy that Governor Wike has consistently espoused: that power should return to the South.
Tinubu said, “Our courtesy call—not to personalize it—is out of the respect I have for you.
“You put in a lot of effort and spoke out frequently about your dedication to national unity, and you never called for the division of Nigeria. You studied the past. You are proud of the nation.
