Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo State, has congratulated Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on breaking his club and Serie A records in Italy.
Osimhen is said to be from Edo State in Nigeria.
On Monday evening, Governor Obaseki posted on his Facebook page that Osimhen, whom he described as a “star of the moment,” has not only been outstanding but has also demonstrated class and exceptional brilliance throughout the season, breaking the record for the most goals scored by an African player in Serie A.
The governor stated that the Super Eagles of Nigeria player is still an important ambassador for Edo State.
“I celebrate our star of the moment, Victor Osimhen, for his exceptional performance in the Italian Serie A, culminating in Napoli winning the league this season,” Obaseki wrote.
“Throughout the season, Osimhen has not only been outstanding but has also demonstrated class and exceptional brilliance, breaking the record for the most goals scored by an African player in Serie A.”It’s also a joy to see Osimhen lead Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years, a trophy that had proven elusive over the years. I applaud Osimhen for his outstanding performance and talent. Throughout the league, he has demonstrated extraordinary determination, courage, and perseverance, bringing the indomitable Edo spirit to international acclaim.
“He is still a notable ambassador for Edo State, and we celebrate his achievements.” We are excited that Osimhen will serve as a role model to our young boys and girls at a time when we are repositioning sports development in the state.
“We congratulate him on his Serie A title and new record as African Serie A goal scorer, and we wish him continued success in the future.”
