Breaking: FG Declares Monday Public Holiday
In honour of the celebration of Democracy Day in 2023, the Federal Government has declared Monday, June 12 as a public holiday.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Dr. Oluwatoyin Akinlade, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, issued a statement on Thursday in Abuja congratulating all Nigerians on the occasion.
According to Akinlade, Nigeria’s democratic journey has experienced both smooth and stormy seas.
However, she argued that the Nigerian people, the government, and its institutions had all remained committed to the principles of democratic governance.
“Therefore, on this momentous occasion, Nigerians and friends of Nigeria are invited to recognise the advancements made, commemorate the accomplishments made, and look ahead to a better future for the nation’s democracy.
“The Permanent Secretary wishes all Nigerians a Happy Democracy Day celebration,” Dr. Akinlade said.
