Alkali resigns as NNPP chairman
Prof. Rufai Alkali, the former National Chairman of the NNPP (New Nigeria Peoples Party), has given notice of his resignation.
This was confirmed by Alkali in a letter to the party’s national secretary.
He claimed that he made the decision to leave the position in order to make room for a new leader to step in.
“I am sure that I must be the one to initiate this change.

“Exactly for this reason, I have made the solemn decision to relinquish my position as our party’s National Chairman, allowing new leadership to build upon and enhance our modest contributions.
Part of the letter said, “I wish I had done more.”
The letter was delivered to Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader of the NNPP and the party’s nominee for president in the recently held elections.
The board of trustees’ secretary, Buba Galadima, and chairman, Boniface Aniebonam, were also copied.
