The Kaduna State government has reminded residents that protests of any kind are still categorically prohibited throughout the state as the counting of election results continues.
Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said in a statement on Sunday that the state government was pleased with the largely peaceful election process that took place throughout the state and commended voters for exercising their right to vote in a civilized way.

In order to maintain the peace, the statement pleaded with the populace to abstain from any type of street demonstration in response to the election results.
The statement continued, “Actions which may disturb public peace will be dealt with by security agencies decisively.
It should be emphasized that the Independent National Electoral Commission is the only entity authorized to announce election results. Participants in the unofficial publication of results should be aware that doing so poses serious risks to the public’s peace and order.

“Individuals or groups who may have questions about results officially announced are strongly encouraged to use the legal tools provided by the Electoral Act.”
According to Aruwan, state security agencies and Governor Nasir El-Rufai continue to closely monitor the security environment surrounding the conduct of the elections.
