Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, congratulated Alex Otti, the newly elected governor of Abia State.
According to Obi, Otti’s victory demonstrated that the preferences of the Abia State populace were honored.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, declared Otti the victor of the governor’s race on Wednesday.
In the election held last Saturday, the LP candidate for governor of Abia State defeated his closest rival, Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He received 175 567 votes, while Ahiwe received 88 529.
In response to his victory, Obi prayed for God to direct Otti.

In a tweet, Obi said: “I recently spoke with my brother, Dr. Alex Otti @alexottiofr, the Governor-elect of Abia State, and sincerely congratulated him on his election.
“I am pleased that the will and wish freely expressed by the Abia electorates have been honored.
“I ask God for wisdom and protection for God’s Own State’s incoming governor. -PO”
