The appointment of Dr. Nasir Raji-Mustapha as Director General of the National Productivity Centre has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He took over for Kashim Akor, whose employment was up last Thursday.
During an extra-ordinary ministry management meeting, Sen. Chris Ngige, minister of labor and employment, announced the appointment.
President Buhari’s confirmation of Raji-Mustapha as the new CEO of the Center was announced by Ngige, who also noted that Raji-Mustapha’s appointment became effective on May 19, 2023, the day after Dr. Kashim Akor’s term as CEO came to an end on May 18, 2023.
While praising the departing Director-General for his outstanding performance and his unwavering dedication to the ministry and Nigeria in general, President open letter Ngige urged the incoming Director-General to maintain and raise the bar higher because the Centre had established itself as a trailblazer in the ministry.
Dr. Nasir Olaitan Raji-Mustapha joined the National Productivity Centre’s staff in 1994 as a Senior Productivity Research Officer, according to a statement from Victor Ainoko, the center’s public relations officer.
Before joining the Center, he worked as a research fellow for the European Economic Commission (EEC) from 1991 to 1993. The Basic and Advanced Courses for Productivity Practitioners by Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) are among the local and international productivity courses that Dr. Raji-Mustapha has taken.
Between 1997 and 1999, Dr. Raji-Mustapha served as the defunct Agricultural Department’s Ag. Head and progressed through the ranks to become a Director.
From 2016 until his appointment as the Director-General of the National Productivity Center, he served as the Director of the Center’s Procurement Department.

In order to ensure a competitive and productive economy, the National Productivity Centre, an agency of the Federal Government under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, is tasked with encouraging and promoting productivity consciousness in all sectors of the Nigerian economy. It also monitors productivity trends and spearheads the productivity movement in Nigeria.
Through productivity promotion and advocacy, capacity building, consultancy services, productivity measurement, and productivity and quality improvement programs, the Center works to change people’s perspectives and institutionalize productivity culture among organizations for the improvement of service delivery and quality of life.
