Fear swept Umuonyeashi, Nsokpo Ogbaku in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State on Friday morning after a mechanic named Chigozie Anumwee was allegedly fatally stabbed by a suspected cultist named Chima, also known as Jasper, over a minor argument.
Jasper, who is from Amakohia Ubi in the Owerri West LGA but resides with his mother, is said to have stabbed Anumwee to death before being stoned to death by a mob.
According to information gathered, the tragedy happened yesterday at around 11 a.m. in Umuonyeashi, Nsokpo Ogbaku, and the locals quickly retaliated by killing Jasper by stone.

According to a source from the community who wished to remain anonymous, Jasper stabbed the deceased from Lawa in the Isi-Ogbaku autonomous community in the lower abdomen after they got into a small argument.
He claimed that when the victim had passed away, the mob realized the young man was trying to flee and caught him, beating and stabbing him to death.
Justice Chukwunatu Nwafor, the secretary of the Ogbaku Youth Association, confirmed the incident and stated that the area has returned to normal after being reported to the police at the Ogbaku Police Division.
He called it “the height of barbarism in this time and age” and said that it was an incident.
When contacted, Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police Command’s spokesman, stated that he had not yet received a briefing on the subject but promised to update our correspondent when he did.
