Christians across the states in Nigeria joined their counterparts all over the world to celebrate Easther Sunday joyfully, as many storms churches to thank God for their lives despite the state of the Nation.

Speaking with Nigerians on Sunday in Churches, on the streets and through telephone conversations, most Nigerians complaint about the present administration and please with President Tinubu to fix Nigeria.

Aduke Obafemi in Akure Ondo State said to TEC News correspondent that she chose to be happy today at all cost because happiness is a choice.

“See , if not for God and that I have decided to be happy today, I wouldn’t have if I look around me. This year alone, it has been fear of kidnapping and attacks from no where as it has been happening all around the state in Ondo. Herdsmen attack, banditry and kidnapping are the things we see and hear daily in the news and on social media.

“My anger is that, I have not really heard of any meaningful action taken by the government either state or federal more than , we shall bring the perpetrators to justice. When? Hen, when? Until all of us dues? I have closed people that lost loved ones and I just keep wondering each day if i would see the next day.

“But today is Easter o. I chose to dance and rejoice. Though no money and no food as I can’t even afford chicken this easter but for the fact that I am alive, I am grateful to God. I only plead with you people that the Government listens to, please help us beg Mr President to get rid of all these criminals everywhere. Let the kings stop, kidnapping and village invasion should end. We trust him more than what we are getting now”. The graduate said.

Busayo Adedeji has a different view as she said that Tinubu can do nothing to fix Nigeria as it is beyond fixing.

“Nobody can fix Nigeria and even if anyone would, not a politician; maybe another messiah . Nigerians are too selfish to fix Nigeria. Tinubu cannot fix Nigeria. For me, I just would keep fixing myself each day I still breath and won’t wait for anyone but God. That is why I am excited today Easter Sunday. Jesus is the one that can fix my life and not any government” says Busayo.

James Danladi from Kaduna said ” he is happy to witness Easter as this time last year, I was mourning my beloved lost in Kaduna to bandits or herdsmen , I don’t even know what they call them. My pain is that, things have not changed. Killings and attacks have not reduced as claimed. Our soldiers are been killed too. Well, God would rise one day I help Nigeria and I pray I am alive to witness it”.

Easter messages from various pulpits have been centered on demonstrating the same love of Christ and sacrifices that can help build a nation.

Nigeria has been facing insecurity for years and economy also have been described unfriendly by many as inflations rises regularly leading to high cost of commodity nation wide with Nigerians waiting for the Fulfilment of promise made by President that if Nigerians are patient and bear the time of pain, the time of ease would also come.

In same vein, President, Council of Bishops, Tracy S. Malone of The United Methodist Church in her Easter message focuses on the need to make a proof of the scarifices of Jesus Christ. Full message below as titled ; 2025 Easter Message from the President of the Council of Bishops anchored on Matthew 28.5-6.

“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.” – Matthew 28:5-6.

“As we prepare to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are reminded of the profound message of hope and new life that Easter brings. The empty tomb stands as a powerful witness to God’s deep and abiding love for the world, and to the gift of salvation given through Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.

“Easter reveals that God is always at work for good, even when we can’t see it. God brings light to our darkness, hope to our despair, and turns tragedy into triumph. With God, nothing is impossible. As the angel said, “Do not be afraid. He is not here. He has risen!”

“Easter invites us to live into the power of the resurrection, walking with boldness and joy, relying not on our own strength, but on the endless grace, love, light, and hope of Christ. Even in moments of trouble, doubt, or uncertainty, the power of the risen Christ meets us, bringing healing, peace, and reconciliation.

“Let us live with resurrection faith, expecting Christ to show up, move, and transform lives, churches, communities, and the world. Let us pray for and expect:

  • Love to lead the way
  • Unity and reconciliation
  • The peace of Christ to settle hearts
  • Relationships to be restored
  • The hungry to be fed, the hurting to be comforted, and the sick made whole
  • Broken dreams to rise again
  • The marginalized to be seen and set free
  • Evil and injustice not to have the last word.
  • War to give way to peace.

Easter assures us that nothing—not hardship, failure, or even death—can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Through him, we are more than conquerors. Let us live as resurrection people—with expectant hearts, courageous spirits, and a hope that does not fade.

May the joy, peace, and hope of Easter fill your heart and guide your steps. May you experience the power of the resurrection in your life and community. May God’s love and grace be with you always.

With Love and Blessings,

Bishop Tracy S. Malone
