The federal government has reached out to various stakeholders in an effort to garner support for victims of explosions and violent attacks that have occurred all over the country.
This was stated in a statement that was released on Tuesday in Abuja by Mbanefor Michaels, who serves as James Lalu’s spokesman. James Lalu is the executive secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD).
In the context of his meeting with a delegation from the Humanitarian Mine Action Committee (HMAC) and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining, Mr. Lalu delivered the following remarks (GICHD).
He stated that the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), which took place in 2006, offered a structure for the implementation of Victims’ Assistance in regard to survivors.

His interpretation was that Articles 11 and 12 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities covered the rights of disabled people resulting from the use of mines and explosives.
He urged the High-Level Mine Action Committee (HMAC) and the Global Information Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) to collect data that is accurate and thorough on victims of mine actions so that action can be taken to help them.
“These victims require support in the form of medical care, rehabilitation, psychosocial assistance, and financial assistance.” According to what he had to say, “I therefore urge the Mine Action Committee to engage in data collection of victims across the board so that we can determine the degree to which interventions are required.”
The GICHD’s Valon Kumnova challenged the committees to maintain their composure and remain dedicated to assisting those who have been injured in conflicts or who have disabilities. He urged all parties involved to formulate and implement strategies, conduct technical surveys, promote gender diversity, oversee information management, draft treaties, and oversee operational management.
The purpose of this Convention is to promote, protect, and ensure that all persons with disabilities are able to fully and equally enjoy all of their human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as to promote the dignity of those individuals.
