Fuel Subsidy Removal: Fuel Pump Price Rises Again!
Nigerians pain seems to be worsen as fuel pump price has again been increased to about N617 naira per liter, especially at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Fuel Stations.
The development has been confirmed at the NNPC fuel stations in Abuja metropolis on Tuesday 18th July, 2023 where the pump price board reflects the new price.
Recall that the fuel pump price jumped from N186 to about N540 naira per liter in most fuel stations recently across the country as a result of the fuel subsidy removal by the Tinubu and APC Led Government.
Since then, price of transportation and items have been soaring beyond the capacity of most Nigerians and almost every household laments the situations.
The government on their part has been pleading with Nigerians and preaching patience while promising palliative to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
TEC NEWS visited the cities and discovered that vehicular movements has drastically reduced as most major roads where you find holdup regularly especially Masaka- Maraba- Nyanyan Road, Airport road by Lugbe and City Gate, Kubwa express way now allows easy passage for motorists.
At most motor park, drivers laments lack of passangers as people hardly leave their base to travel except going to work daily and as necessary due to high cost of transportation fee.
Commenting on the issue of high cost of transportation, Umar Gaskiya , a resident of Nyanyan in Abuja said ;
” I use to go home every raining season for farming and return but this time, I could not afford the transport fee so I sat back”.
One Mr Jacob Audu in his response to our correspondent said that he doesn’t go anywhere again since the fuel subsidy removal.
“Oh , me I don’t go anywhere anymore o apart from work and to find my daily bread. In the past, I use to go check friends and family almost every weekend but since price of transportation has increased, I just held my peace. I don’t look for anyone and nobody check on me except on phone. That is what Nigerian Government has done to us poor people but I know there is God”, said Jacob Audu.
