Topic: Dont be troubled by books.
Ecclesiastes 12:12
And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
The major word for today lies in the last sentence of our text for today; “and, much study is a weariness of the flesh”. Weariness of the flesh means diterorating of the value in a person.
Study is to make us steady. Books are to make us good. Daniel said,”I understood by books”. Knowledge is suppose to make us excellent but many people today are troubled by the same knowledge and study that should prevent a stumble. Don’t be like them!
Many who went to school and become graduates and even further to higher level are been ensnared by the knowledge they have acquired. Many of the people that do not recognize or believe in God are educated and learned, infact, the higher they study, the higher they behave sorry. Don’t be like them.
Many who are husbands were good to their spouse and home until later when they begin to change to bad. If you check, they have grown more in knowledge or have gone to school to study more. Instead of been better and improved having known more, they become terrible because they now know. Don’t be like them!
Some housewives would have been very good and with impeccable character of humility, sincerity, faithful, reasonable and industrious to even generate supportive income but live arrogantly and haughtily, with high taste, argument and disrespectful to their own husband simply because they are educated, widely read, social and knowledgeable which prevented their good, peace, love and joy in their marriages. Don’t be like them!
Some sons who no longer respect parent and daughters who no longer honour anyone are product of knowledge and study. Don’t be like them!
Is education or study bad? No! Should we stop acquiring knowledge? God forbid! What then do we need? Making your knowledge count through character of humility, Self control, discipline, submission, industrious and problem solving. If you see it in a book, let it show in your good. Don’t allow book to hook you but to put you well. Don’t be troubled by books and don’t book into being a fool.
There are many people doing well in attitude and lack ‘books’. May knows books but lack attitude. Many are enjoying their homes but no education and many enduring their homes despite education. Many people are financially capable though no books and many are professors and highly educated but stranded. Don’t be like them!
Don’t let it be that your life would be hard, your home threatened, your relationship messed up and your ministry empty simply because you increased in knowledge and advanced in books. Don’t be troubled by books and ensure you are educated and read widely and crown it up with divine wisdom. It is well with you.

In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.

Prayer Points: Father, every knowledge that would make me useless and deny me goodness, deny me access in Jesus name.
