Akwanga township has become virtually inaccessible today due to heavy traffic congestion caused by ongoing road construction works and overnight rainfall. Major roads across the town are currently blocked, with long queues of trailers and other vehicles stretching several kilometers.
The traffic gridlock, which began early this morning, is worsened by the diversion of motorists by construction workers and the slippery conditions left by the rain. Movement within the town has come to a standstill, leaving commuters stranded and businesses disrupted.

Authorities and construction workers on site have advised travelers and residents to seek alternative routes to avoid the town center. Motorists are strongly encouraged to make use of either the Lafia Bypass or Wamba Bypass for easier passage and to ease pressure on the blocked routes.
