Gunmen have kidnapped the wife of Ugoeze Umugborogu, the traditional leader of the Amuro autonomous community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State.
Both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) chairmen’s country homes in the Amuro ward were set on fire by gunmen.
Residents of the affected community have fled their homes in response to the development.

The attackers set the homes on fire as soon as they entered the compounds, according to a source who spoke to Punch on the condition of anonymity.
The local Labour Party chairman and his family were not home when the shooters opened fire, the source claims.
He pleaded with the state government to save them and said that things were getting out of hand.
The late king of the Amuro autonomous community’s wife, Ugoeze Umugborogu, has been abducted, according to the source.

“After taking the woman hostage, they went to the home of Ifediora Umegboroagu, the chairman of the Labour Party in the Amuro ward, and set it on fire. They struck while the man’s family was away.
“They similarly leveled the ward’s APC chairman’s home. This is becoming out of control. Government assistance is required for us.
