No Matric List, No Admission: JAMB Warns Tertiary Institutions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a stern warning to all tertiary institutions in Nigeria, declaring that it will not approve admissions for the 2024 and 2025 academic sessions in any school that fails to submit its matriculation list.
This directive follows a standing policy by the Federal Ministry of Education, which mandates all tertiary institutions to provide JAMB with their matriculation lists as part of efforts to end illegal admissions across the country.
Speaking during a meeting with Admission Desk Officers, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, stated that institutions which have yet to submit their lists for the 2022 and 2023 admission years risk losing approval for upcoming admissions.
While noting that some schools were still finalizing their 2024 admissions, Oloyede granted a temporary concession — but made it clear that compliance must follow immediately after the process concludes.
The Registrar warned that “erring institutions” will face serious consequences, adding that affiliate institutions would also be summoned alongside their parent schools to face sanctions. He further disclosed that JAMB will publish advertisements in major national newspapers to notify the public of non-compliant institutions.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesperson, confirmed that a list of institutions yet to comply will soon be released.
