Two escorts of an oil vessel were reportedly shot dead by suspected militants with ties to the Biafra Nations League, or BNL, in the area of Cameroonian waters.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at around 4 am in the Cameroonian-controlled Idabato subdivision of the Bakassi Peninsula.
Witnesses claimed that the militants also attacked a vessel that was stationary and whose origin was unknown.
Another source said, “They tried to light the ship on fire.”
Before Cameroonian forces arrived, he claimed, the militants fled.

Princewill Richards, the leader of BnL, issued a statement in which he ordered an end to oil extraction by vessels in the eastern Gulf of Guinea.
He warned that the oil vessels are endangering their lives.
