Chukwudi Ogbonna, a candidate for the Accord Party in the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Constituency II of Rivers State, has reportedly been abducted.
According to reports, Ogbonna was kidnapped by unidentified thugs in the Rumuigbo community of the state’s Obio-Akpor Local Government Area and transported at gunpoint to an undisclosed location.
At around 8:30 pm, the victim—who is reportedly a well-liked contender in Saturday’s election—was abducted.
When the tragedy happened, Ogbonna was traveling home with a companion in a car.
Ifeakachukwu Nwakiri, who described himself as the victim’s brother, verified the occurrence.

Nwakiri asserted that the kidnapping was carried out for political reasons, but added that the police had been informed.
In addition, he requested that the Independent National Election Commission take into account postponing the Saturday State House of Assembly election for Onelga Constituency II until his brother’s release.
