SGF Convening High-Level Security Meeting Amid Rising Insecurity

In a move aimed at addressing growing security challenges in the country, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has summoned members of the Council of State and Police Council for a high-level strategic meeting.
According to a statement from the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr. Emanso Okop Umobong, signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosien, the meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Council Chambers, Aso Villa.
The session is expected to focus on matters of national importance, including critical issues affecting security and policing across the country. Participants have been urged to attend either physically or virtually, reflecting the hybrid nature of the meeting and underscoring the commitment of the federal government to inclusive and practical engagement on urgent national matters.
The statement further highlighted that the convening of this meeting is a demonstration of President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to safeguarding citizens and ensuring the safety of communities nationwide.
