Sports Minister Praises Flying Eagles for obtaining World Cup Ticket

Sunday Dare, the minister of sports, has praised Nigeria’s U-20 men’s team, the Flying Eagles, for earning a spot in the FIFA U20 World Cup later this year and making it to the CAF U20 AFCON in Egypt’s semi-finals.

The Flying Eagles defeated Uganda on Thursday by a score of 1-0, securing their place in the CAF U20 AFCON semifinals as well as their spot in the FIFA U20 World Cup, which will take place in Indonesia in May.

The team was commended by the Minister for achieving the goal set for them by the Ministry and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), but was also tasked with refocusing on winning the CAF U20 trophy.

“I congratulate you, the coaches, players, and other officials for reaching the goal set for you, which is selecting a World Cup ticket,” he said.

“We admire your tenacity and resolve in coming back from the loss in your first game to now win three straight games to achieve the first goal.

“I now challenge you to go further and change your attention to completing the race and winning the trophy. Dare said, “You did it at the WAFU B competition, and I think you can do it again.
