Tinubu’s victory has strengthened Nigeria’s democracy – Ekiti Speaker

President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election on February 25 has been praised by the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olubunmi Adelugba.

Adelugba referred to the victory of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential flag bearer as “historic and remarkable in the nation’s political history” and a reward for his consistency as a democrat and a supporter of the working class.

According to a statement by her Special Adviser for Media, Odunayo Ogunmola, the Speaker’s response to Tinubu’s declaration as the presidential election winner stated that the President-elect has a mandate from all of Nigeria, demonstrating his acceptance by the millions of electors.

She praised the Ekiti State electorate for their role in Tinubu’s victory and noted that their decision to remain loyal to the APC gives the state a fantastic opportunity to profit from the Tinubu presidency and the benefits it is bringing to the table.

She stated that Tinubu’s election as Nigeria’s next president has strengthened democracy in that country and increased voter confidence that going to the polls is the best way to choose representatives and leaders without using undemocratic methods.

The Speaker asserted that when Tinubu takes office on May 29, his vision for a new Nigeria, as outlined in his manifesto dubbed “Renewed Hope,” will result in a dramatic improvement in the nation’s fortunes and the standard of living of its people.

As the party that has won the presidency three times in a row, in 2015, 2019 and 2023, she claimed that the election of Tinubu as the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s new president has proven the APC to be the most favored, powerful, and alluring candidate to voters.

She claimed that Tinubu’s election as the head of state heralded the beginning of a new era in which Nigerians would profit from the intellect, experience, pedigree, competence, and Midas touch that the President-elect is renowned for.

“The victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his subsequent proclamation as the President-elect has strengthened democracy in our nation and deepened the electorate’s belief that voting is the best way to select their leaders and representatives in government.

“The emergence of Asiwaju Tinubu heralds a new era in the history of Nigeria and in the lives of its people in their search for purposeful leadership to be led by an inspirational and well-respected team player who never lets them down.

“Asiwaju is the best candidate for the position, and I applaud Nigerians for defying all odds to choose him to be the guardian of their mandate. When he served as Lagos’ governor, he laid the groundwork for what is now Africa’s fifth-largest economy, and he demonstrated his mettle with a stellar performance, she said.

The Speaker prayed to God to give the incoming president the wisdom, knowledge, and good health he needs to carry out his duties in a way that will meet Nigerians’ expectations for the next few years.
