The Action Alliance (AA) has stated that it withdrew its petition challenging Tinubu’s victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja due to “national unity.”
The party also stated that it does not want to be the cause of another calamitous experience in Nigeria, similar to the June 12, 1993 Presidential elections, which were believed to have been won by late Chief MKO Abiola of Southwest extraction.
This was stated by the Party’s Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje, in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Monday.
The Party stated that as active participants in the democratic experiment, they will not be used by supporters of the Interim Government to achieve their ill-conceived agenda of taking over the government via the back door.

“Third, our party believes in the three pillars of a healthy democracy: equity, fairness, and justice. Parts or all of these key principles have been relegated, which is causing agitation in our country today. We believe it is unjust to deny a southerner the most exalted seat and position, particularly after a northerner has successfully sat in it for eight years.” We do not want to be seen as a vehicle for further relegation of these critical democratic principles.”We also took into account those who ran for and won elections.” We considered Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the NNPP and Prince Adewole Adebayo of the SDP, who is a very good brother and friend of ours. ” These two men, among others, had their parties win positions in the elections, but they never approached this Presidential Elections Tribunal despite their parties losing. We also considered many other reasons, as discussed by some of our leaders, and we see no point in continuing with this protest petition.”One of the reasons advanced by some of our leaders is their belief in Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ability to evolve a kind of policy that could engender a resurgence of trust in our togetherness as a national entity, which has been one of the major reasons why we have the barrage of agitation in our land today. We require a personality who believes in policies that can instill trust in Nigeria’s aggrieved indigenous nationalities in order to reenact the loss of brotherhood among our diverse ethnicity.
With all of the aforementioned reasons, we believe that Nigeria is in better hands with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the driver’s seat.
