APC Govt turning Nigeria to one-party State, election waste of resources – Momodu
Dele Momodu, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is currently in power, is turning Nigeria into a one-party state and that the recently held presidential election was a waste of taxpayer money.
APC administration headed by President Muhammadu Buhari, according to Momodu, should have informed Nigerians that the APC is not ready to go and should not have bothered to hold an election. Atiku Abubakar is the PDP’s candidate for president.
According to Momodu, director of strategic communications for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, “last Saturday was another sad day for our country.” She said this on Thursday.
In particular, the Bimodal Voter Registration System (BVAS) and the timely transmission of results through its Result Viewing Portal, he claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fallen short of their commitments (IReV).
“It was a day when Nigerians were expected to do things correctly. There was a lot of drama, melodrama, and promises that BVAS would change the game, but all we saw was a charade, he said.

The PDP leader referred to the presidential election of February 25, 2023 as one of Nigeria’s worst since the First Republic.
One of our worst elections occurred in 1983, Momodu remarked. We had our best elections in 1993, but they were annulled. We were much worse off in 2023 than we were in 1983, which could be considered an analog era.
“With all the billions, if not trillions, wasted on this election, we must also have informed Nigerians that the APC is not prepared to run, and that elections are not necessary. We are establishing a one-party system in Nigeria.
In our typical docility, we would probably agree, but why waste all that money and people’s time? I feel the most sorry for the young people because when they came out, they had faith and hope in their nation but instead of rekindling that hope, they dashed it.
Therefore, the election was a complete waste of time and money for us.
He claimed that the PDP agents’ reports from the polling places did not match the INEC results.
On Wednesday at around 4 am, the electoral umpire announced that Bola Tinubu of the APC had won the presidency.
The former governor of Lagos State won the most votes (8,794,726), nearly two million more than his nearest rival, former vice president and PDP candidate Atiku Abubakar, in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states. He also won significant numbers in several other states.

Six-time presidential candidate Atiku, 76, received 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who in less than a year galvanized young voters in a way some have called unprecedented, came in second with 6,101,533, received 6,101,533.
By virtue of his victory, APC President Muhammadu Buhari will transfer power to fellow party member Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, when his eight-year, two-term term ends.
