Asari Dokubo Questions Claims of U.S. Military Strike on Bandits in Sokoto

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has dismissed reports claiming that a recent United States military strike in Sokoto State successfully neutralised bandits.
Reacting to the reports, Dokubo alleged that no bandits or terrorists were killed during the operation, insisting that explosives were dropped in an open field, thereby endangering the lives of innocent civilians rather than targeting criminal elements.
According to him, what was deployed to Sokoto State were drones, not a decisive military strike as widely reported. He described the narrative surrounding the operation as misleading and “very shameful.”
“I challenge anyone in Nigeria to show me even one terrorist that was killed,” Dokubo stated.
His comments have added to the growing public debate over the nature, effectiveness, and transparency of foreign military involvement in Nigeria’s security operations, particularly in the fight against banditry and terrorism in the North-West region.
