Kogi – Ekiti Road

Commuters and residents in communities along Kogi/Ekiti State Federal Road have lamented the deplorable state of the very important road that links both states.

TEC News correspondent who plied the road recently reports how co-travellers were lamenting as they struggle to navigate the road, going from left to right throughout the journey.

One of the travelers who spoke with TEC News correspondent,  said the Federal Government should be held responsible for negligence as the National Executive Council seems unbothered about the part of the country.

“The Federal Government should be blamed for the condition of this road (Kogi/Ekiti Road) because it is a Federal road, but it appears that the National Executive Council seems not bothered about the people of this Zone and states. If my memory is not failing me, the first state that victory of President Tinubu was announced should be Ekiti State. Ekiti State voted for him massively and the first state that the winning of APC presidential candidate was announced, yet , you can’t even travel in and out of Ekiti with ease. All the federal roads that links the state is terribly bad and almost un – motorable,” he said.

Another driver simply identified as Afolayan who lamented openly at in restaurant and spoke with TEC News thereafter said “The governors of both Kogi and Ekiti States should also be blamed for our sufferings as they have the capacity to fix the road but waiting for the Federal Government as if Tinubu is the one plying the roads here. Even though it’s Federal road and responsibility, the two governors can build synergy , approach the Federal Government, agree and follow procedures that can enable them fix the road. Then they should fix it”.

A traveler , Yetunde said

“former governor Fayose fixed the role to a point and since then, no one else considered it again”. Yetunde said.

TEC News gathered that most efforts of the sitting governor is been lauded as roads are been fixed and new ones constructed regularly. Just 17th of May, 2025, it was reported that new roads were been constructed and inspected by Governor Oyebanji of Ekiti State.

In spite of the new roads within the state, travellers and road users still stress that the Federal Roads deserve attention if the leadership of the states involved understand the importance of the states images and economic interest
