2023: Atiku, Peter Obi, Tinubu, others to sign final peace agreement on Wednesday

The final peace accord will be signed on Wednesday by all presidential candidates regardless of political affiliation before the general elections in 2023 on Saturday.

The peace agreement is said to be intended to stop thuggery and hate speech.

It is expected that party leaders will deter violence by urging their supporters to refrain from using violence prior to, during, and after the elections.

The National Peace Committee organized the accord in Abuja in 2022 and January 2023, and all the candidates and national chairman chairmen of their parties signed it.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Bola Tinubu, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party’s Rabiu Kwankwaso were among the candidates who signed the agreement (NNPP).

Others included Chichi Ojei of the Allied People’s Movement, Sunday Adenuga of the Boot Party, Hamzat Al-Mustapha of the Action Alliance, Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress, and the only female candidate in the race, Hamzat Al-Mustapha (APM).

Along with Dan Nwanyanwu of the Zenith Labour Party, Christoper Imumolen of the Accord Party, Yabagi Sani of the Action Democratic Party, Dumebi Kachikwu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and others signed the agreement.

For the election on February 25, candidates are running from 18 recognized political parties.
