On Tuesday, the Ogun State Police Command invited Dare Kadiri, a former deputy speaker of the House of Assembly, for blocking the gates to the Assembly complex with his car.

Invading the Governor’s Office, which houses the legislative chambers, Kadiri, who had been impeached and suspended from the Assembly, blocked the gates.

According to a witness, the troubled lawmaker blocked the gates with his car, sat in it, and wouldn’t allow anyone into the chambers.

A week after the House approved a petition to have Kadiri, who represents Ijebu North Constituency 2 in the Assembly, removed, he was impeached in his capacity as Deputy Speaker.

On Tuesday morning, Kadiri is alleged to have blocked the gates, prompting the arrival of police.

It was discovered that the circumstance required the Assembly employees to slog through a different entrance into the complex.

An eyewitness claimed that Bolanle Muritala, the deputy commissioner of police, had to intervene in order to persuade Kadiri to leave the Assembly entrance.

However, the police invited the troubled lawmaker to discuss the disturbance.

When reached, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state’s police public relations officer, confirmed the lawmaker’s invitation.

The man is with us, Oyeyemi declared. We’ve extended him an invitation. We are looking into it. Investigations are being conducted into the situation. He’s spoken out.

“We have invited the other parties to attend and provide statements, and we are investigating. They should arrive at any moment.

The lawmaker is guilty of a bailable offence, Oyeyemi responded when asked if he would be freed.
