Police Rescue 39 Foreign Trafficked Victims in Nasarawa, Launch Manhunt for Syndicate Leader

Detectives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have rescued 39 foreign nationals believed to be victims of human trafficking from a bungalow located near Orange Market, Mararaba in Karu Local Government Are
Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed Jauro, disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday at the Command Headquarters in Lafia
According to him, the victims , 32 males and 7 females were trafficked from Mali by a Malian national identified as Abdullahi Berter, who allegedly deceived them with promises of job opportunities in France. All the victims are Malians except for one individual from Ivory Coast, and they reportedly speak only French and Arabic.
“The prime suspect is currently at large. We have launched a full-scale manhunt to apprehend him and all other members of the trafficking network involved,” CP Jauro stated.
He added that the rescued victims will be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) for further investigations and appropriate legal actions.
In a separate operation, the Command also arrested a suspected kidnapper, Abubakar Adamu, of Adudu District in Awe Local Government Area. During interrogation, the suspect led operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to his Ruga, where they recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and eleven rounds of live ammunition.
“The suspect is undergoing investigation and will be charged to court accordingly,” the CP said.
Reassuring residents, CP Jauro emphasized the Command’s renewed commitment to public safety.
“This rescue operation demonstrates our determination to protect the vulnerable and dismantle criminal networks. Under my leadership, Nasarawa State will not be a safe haven for traffickers or criminals of any kind. Justice will find you wherever you hide,” he declared.
