A gospel artiste, Rev. Otasowie Ehanire, a.k.a Prince Charles, has expressed his commitment to raising and mentoring the next generation of singers in Nigeria.
Ehanire, who recently released a song titled ‘Okemmuo’, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja that the song celebrates God’s almightiness and His great deeds to humanity.
Speaking on his inspiration, he explained that his journey into gospel music began at an early age, largely influenced by his parents, particularly his mother, who exposed him to music at home.
He revealed that listening to legendary acts like Osayomore Joseph and Akaba Man helped shaped his passion, while performing at the Apollo Theatre boosted his confidence and stage presence from age 13.
Beyond early exposure, Ehanire said his strongest inspiration came from a divine encounter with God, which shaped his calling into gospel music, with the majority of his songs focused on praising God.
He highlighted his efforts to support emerging artistes, noting that he had sponsored studio sessions and music production for at least six individuals to help them overcome financial barriers.
On his mission, he said he aimed to use music as a tool for transformation, hope, and spiritual awakening, encouraging faith, resilience, and gratitude among listeners in a morally and socially challenging world.
Describing himself as goal-oriented, he said his purpose went beyond commercial success, stressing that gospel music was a calling, with long-term goals of spreading God’s message globally and mentoring young talents.
“Success for me is not about fame or wealth, but about lives touched and souls inspired,” he said, adding that his lyrics portrayed God as Almighty, faithful, and ever-present.
Ehanire emphasised that his songs, particularly Okemmuo, expressed gratitude and reverence, helping listeners see God as a loving and compassionate Father.
He also highlighted challenges gospel artistes faced, including lack of funding and limited industry support.
Reflecting on his released songs, Ehanire said they were rooted in praise and thanksgiving, inspired by personal testimonies of God’s goodness, aiming to inspire faith, encourage worship, and remind listeners of God’s unquestionable power.
