On Thursday night at midnight, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, the director general of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State, narrowly escaped being shot.
According to reports, Sekibo was visiting Rainbow Town in Port Harcourt to inspect the location of a potential party presidential rally when gunmen in police uniform opened fire on his Land Cruiser bulletproof jeep.
At a news conference on Friday, Sekibo confirmed the incident and claimed that while police officers were on the scene, his car was shot at and the rally’s location was set on fire.

“Those policemen who were keeping an eye on the fire started firing at our car as we got closer to the scene. When I turned to look at the Hilux cars, I saw that they belonged to the governor of Rivers State’s police force.
