Fallen Tree Kills Truck Driver In Cross River

One truck driver was killed when a tree fell on him around 11:40 p.m. on Thursday night along the Murtala Mohammed Highway in Calabar, Cross River State.
According to the truck’s conductor, the articulated vehicle had been loaded and the driver was waiting his turn for clearance when he fell asleep.

The eyewitness stated that he heard the thud of a fallen tree but that the driver died before he could wake him.

He urged the government to help protect the lives of truck drivers and others by removing old trees across the state.

According to officials from the Ministry of Environment, the state government is working to remove all old trees across the state in order to avoid a repeat of another heinous incident.
