With over 1,000 votes, Obi leads of Tinubu in 17 Lagos LGAs

In 17 local government areas (LGAs) in Lagos State, the Labour Party’s (LP) Peter Obi is ahead of Bola Tinubu, the APC’s (Bola Tinubu) presidential candidate, by more than 1,000 votes.

In 17 local government areas in Lagos, Obi had received 448,878 votes as of the time of filing this report at 7:30 am on Monday, while Tinubu had received 447,187.

The figures are based on data compiled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Lagos presidential election held on February 25.

The state collation center in the Yaba neighborhood of the state opened its doors to the public on Sunday, and the collation continued there until midnight on Monday.

The results for 17 of the state’s 20 LGAs presented by 3:40 am on Monday including Lagos Mainland, Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos Island, Badagry, Agege, Ikeja, Shomolu, Kosofe, Amuwo Odofin, Eti Osa, Surulere, Apapa, Ifako Ijaiye, Ajeromi, Oshodi Isolo.

Results presented for Mushin LGA have yet to get cleared by the state collation officer as they are being contested by the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC) and thus had yet to be signed by most party agents.
INEC asked that they be presented afresh.

Only Ojo and Alimosho LGAs remain to be announced in the meantime. Later on Monday, the state’s REC is anticipated to meet again to compile the final results.

Lagos collected 6,214,970 PVCs out of the 87,209,007 PVCs that were collected nationwide for the election. Kano, with 5,594,193, and Kaduna, with 4,164,473, follow closely behind.

Whoever served as the state’s governor from 1999 to 2007 is from Lagos. Other presidential contenders in the race, besides Tinubu and Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, include Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
