The misuse of firearms, abuse of authority, egregious indiscretion, and waste of live ammunition are all offenses for which the Nigeria Police Force has dismissed three policemen.

The act was not only illegal and impolite, but also embarrassing for the Force and the country as a whole, according to CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s spokesperson.

He added that the action was taken in response to complaints and findings on video evidence that were made against the policemen from Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 1 in Kano and widely shared on social media on Friday, April 7, 2023, as well as a subsequent orderly room trial of the affected policemen by the Force Provost Marshal.
He continued, “The action was taken in response to complaints and findings on video evidence widely shared on social media on Friday, April 7, 2023, alleging sexism, impolite behavior, and misuse of firearms against the policemen from Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 1, Kano, and a subsequent orderly room trial of the affected policemen by the Force Provost Marshal.
The Nigeria Police Force also warned all officers to ensure they carry out their duties in line with the extant laws to avoid running foul of its provisions and attracting attendant sanctions.

The Police also tasked supervising officers to ensure continuous and detailed lectures of their men to ensure they are well acquainted with all necessary standard operating procedures.
