Benue Old Catholic Community Gets a New Bishop

The Community of the Old Catholic Apostolic Church, OCAC, Ihugh, Benue State on Thursday 29th May, 2025 now has a new Bishop added to the Council of Bishops in Nigeria.
Worshipers and other Christian faithfuls in the state and beyond thronged out in their numbers and in Joyous mood to witness the consecration of the new Bishop, Rt. Revd Levi Terkula Tyo-Abuul.
The new Bishop and one other, Rt Revd John Oamen Akhigbe who were presented Oblation and Consecrated by the Presiding Bishop, Old Catholic Apostolic Church, Province of Nigeria, Most Revd Raphael Fagbohun Oluwaseun in a service attended by over 2,000 Christian faithfuls were charged to serve in humility and consider growth and expansions of the body of Christ.
“The two Bishops here are expected to see the ordination as a call to service and not a title or decoration. They are to serve in humility and compassion”.
Bishop Levi Terkula in his words to TEC News correspondent said he sees the new office as a challenge for him to do more in his service to God and to mankind.
“I see this as a challenge for me to do more. The journey has not been easy but God has been faithful. We are looking forward to more expansion and to do more for God”. Bishop Levi said.
The wife of the new Bishop who would henceforth be the Bishop for Ihugh Vicariate, Revd Mrs Latifah Terkula in her chat with TEC News correspondent said it is a new challenge for her and she was sure that God would help her.
“My husband becoming a Bishop now is a great thing but I consider it an assignment with new challenges. Over the years, it has been tough and uneasy . You know what I mean when you have a husband that is always out there. You see him sometimes like once or twice in a week. When the family needs him, he is just not there. There was a time I was almost crying and very worried due to his unavailability but I prayed to God because , his absence is for good and not for bad. He is a man consumed by the love and care of his people . The passion is so high for the people. He just wants his people fine. He thinks them, he lives for them. I had prayed that God strengthens me and He is doing just that”. Revd Latifah said.
She also promised to feed the flocks under their leadership and would just keep doing more for God.
Ihugh town is under Vandeikya Local Government Area in Benue State Nigeria and the auditorium used is prepared to serve as the headquarters of the Church in Ihugh Vicariate .
The occasion played host to friends and lovers of the Bishop. It was spiced with food, drinks cultural dances and many other activities.
According to the members and participants , the consecration of the new Bishop is a milestone achievement for the church in Ihugh and the entire OCAC community.
