Education: WAEC Temporarily Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results Over Technical Glitches

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced a temporary suspension of access to the 2025 WASSCE results for school candidates due to technical issues uncovered during an internal review process.
In a press release issued from its Lagos headquarters, WAEC disclosed that the affected subjects include Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. The council attributed the glitches to a new innovation known as paper serialization, a method introduced to curb examination malpractice and enhance assessment credibility.
While the initiative aligns with international best practices, the post-result release process reportedly encountered unexpected technical bugs, prompting immediate action from the council.
“The Council, being a responsive body sensitive to fairness and professionalism, has decided to urgently review and correct the technical glitches that led to the situation,” the statement read. Consequently, WAEC has temporarily disabled access to the WASSCE (SC) 2025 results on its official result-checking portal.
The Council extended sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public, assuring them that the issue would be resolved within 24 hours. Candidates who had earlier checked their results are advised to do so again after the rectification window.
WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to upholding excellence, fairness, and transparency in all its assessment processes, thanking the public for their patience and continued trust.
