Ekiti Governor Recalls Commissioner From Suspension

Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has recalled the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Home Affairs, Mr Olaiya Atibioke from suspension.

The recall followed expiration of the two weeks suspension imposed on the Commissioner on the 12th of this month for leaving the retreat event organized for new State Executives Council members of which he was one of them.

Giving a reason for the suspension when it was imposed, Yinka Oyebode, special adviser to the Governor on Media, said the Commissioner had left the venue of a retreat without permission.

In a statement, Oyebode said the suspension follows Atibioke’s “unauthorised departure from the venue of the three-day retreat for members of the State Executive Council and Permanent Secretaries held at Bishop Adetiloye Hall, Trade Fair Complex, Ado-Ekiti on Saturday”.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode, the recalled commissioner is expected to resume work today.

The Governor urged top government functionaries in the state to take a cue from the suspension, while restating his administration’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and actions that are inimical to the progress of the state.
