Former Nasarawa Deputy Governor, Laid to Rest Amid Tributes.

The former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Solomon Ewuga, was on Saturday laid to rest in his hometown, Alushi, in Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area.
Ewuga, who passed away on September 24 in an Egyptian hospital after a prolonged illness, was 70 years old. His remains were interred at about 2:30 p.m. in his family compound following a funeral service attended by dignitaries from across the country.
A prominent political figure, the late Ewuga served as Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and represented Nasarawa North in the 7th National Assembly.
Speaking at the funeral, Governor Abdullahi Sule described the late Ewuga as a man who devoted his life to serving God and humanity. He said the deceased was a global-minded leader who related freely with people of all backgrounds and took special interest in mentoring the younger generation. The governor assured the family of the state government’s continued support.
Also speaking, former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who represented former deputy governors of the state, described Ewuga’s death as a personal and national loss. He urged political leaders to learn from the experience and work together to promote unity and development.
“This is the third former deputy governor we are burying. I pray that this one will teach us something—to understand the emptiness of life and unite to build our state,” Maku said.
The wife of the deceased, Josephine Dokotri-Ewuga, expressed gratitude to the state government, friends, and associates for their support during the family’s difficult time, noting that she believes her husband rests peacefully in the bosom of the Lord.
The funeral drew a host of dignitaries including Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi; the first civilian governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura; Plateau State Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo; Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs Zephaniah Jisalo; and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda.
Also in attendance were traditional and religious leaders, current and former lawmakers from Nasarawa and Plateau States, and numerous friends and associates who came to pay their last respects to the late statesman.
