Governance: Clean your Offices and Surrounding on Friday, State Government Tells All Employees as Sanitation holds Saturday

The Government of Ekiti State under the leadership of the Executive Governor, has told Government Employees to clean their offices and surroundings on Friday which by implication include offices in the August edition of the monthly Environmental Sanitation exercise in the State.

The Honorable Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Chief Mrs Tosin Aluko Ajisafe reportedly said this in a press release that all Government Employees are urged to clean their offices and surroundings on Friday, 25th August, 2023 before the end of the workday.

The commissioner also said that there would be movement restrictions for both people and vehicles on Saturday 26th August, 2023 for the purpose of the exercise from 7am to 10am except for those on special assignment or special duties.

 

The theme for August’s Environmental Sanitation is “Do not Rubbish The Drainage; Avoid Flooding”. As the monthly exercise holds, the Commissioner urged everyone to tidy up their surroundings.

In addition, she advised Locals and Business Owners to properly dispose of their wastes and clear the drainage systems in front of their structures.

The Commissioner also caution all Vendors at the various markets to take advantage of the occasion to clean their stores and booths and to make sure that any rubbish is properly disposed off and not dumped into the drains.

She informs the general public that all market places and commercial settings shall be closed until 10am for the excercise.

Chief (Mrs) Aluko stressed that in order to oversee the exercise throughout the State, Environmental Health Officers from the State and Local Government, NGO’s, and Security agencies will be present.

For the purpose of prosecuting violators of environmental health and sanitation laws, Mobile Courts shall be in operation across the State.

All Ekiti residents are urged by the Commissioner to maintain a clean environment, especially now that we are fully in the raining season.

“Environmental Sanitation Hold in Ekiti on Saturday

The August edition of the State Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise will hold on Saturday, 26th August, 2023 between hours of 7:00am and 10:00am.
