Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his death as a monumental national loss and a personal heartbreak for many who admired his exemplary leadership.
In a heartfelt condolence message personally signed and made available to journalists in Lafia on Sunday, Governor Sule said Nigeria has lost not just a former president, but a towering statesman whose life embodied honesty, simplicity, and unwavering patriotism.
“It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that I receive the sad news of the passing of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, elder statesman and former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor stated.
Describing the late leader as “a symbol of integrity,” Governor Sule praised Buhari’s lifelong dedication to the Nigerian project, highlighting his discipline, selflessness, and enduring commitment to public service.
“President Buhari was more than a leader. He stood tall as a beacon of patriotism and courage. He served Nigeria with unshakeable dedication, and his virtues endeared him to millions across the world,” Sule said.
The governor further noted Buhari’s unique bond with Nasarawa State, calling him “a friend to our people and a father figure to many of us.” He credited Buhari’s humility and moral strength as guiding lights for younger leaders.
While mourning his passing, Governor Sule called on Nigerians to reflect on and uphold the late president’s values of truth, sacrifice, and nation-building.
“We in Nasarawa cherish the fact that he lived a life of purpose, honour, and conviction. Nigeria has lost a statesman, but his legacy will endure,” he said.
Governor Sule concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of Buhari’s soul, asking Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.
“May Allah comfort and strengthen his beloved family, close associates, and the entire nation in this period of grief. May Baba Buhari find eternal peace. Ameen,” he said.
