Kogi lawmaker urged to run for election, receives a N50m donation

The presentation took place on Sunday when friends and associates from all three senatorial districts of the state paid Adeyemi a courtesy visit at his Abuja home, according to a statement from the media office signed by a Special Adviser to Adeyemi, Adeleye Oluwafemi, and made public in the early hours of Monday.

Part of the statement read, “Today, February 19, 2023, at the Maitama residence of Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi (CON), friends and associates of Senator Smart Adeyemi from Kogi State in Abuja called on him to run for governor, equally raised money to buy the governorship form, and promised to galvanize support for him throughout the entire state.”

The group hinged their support for the journalist turned politician on his courage, carriage, capacity, great antecedents, experience, exposure, vision, patriotism, detrabalized nature, oratory prowess, maturity, passion and delivery capacity.
The group noted with “memory the remarkable achievements of Senator Smart Adeyemi across the three senatorial districts of Kogi State and his quality representation at the floor of the senate,” according to their statement.

On behalf of others, fifty of the senator’s friends and associates contributed to the fund and officially donated the sum of 50 million naira.

They claim that the bank draft was acquired on February 17, 2023, but they were unable to deliver it to the senator because he was away attending the APC presidential campaign in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Adeyemi responded by thanking the group for their unanimous choice and urging them to vote en masse for APC candidates Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and others in the upcoming election in order to deliver the party victory.

Adeyemi said that Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, and Shettima, his running mate, were individuals with intellectual prowess, a proven track record, and impeccable character. He added that they were the ideal team to take Nigeria to a new level of development and prosperity.

Among those present at the meeting were Chief Sule Ebira, Ben Owoleke, Ade Olamife, and Akin Akinola from the Kogi Central senatorial district, as well as Nathaniel Taiwo, Ben Owoleke, Omale Isaiah, and Philip Omale from the Kogi East senatorial district.
