Nasarawa Governor Distributes 100 Electric Vehicles to Youths, Launches Charging Centres

TEC News | Lafia |22nd August, 2025.

In a move to promote youth empowerment and sustainable transport, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has distributed 100 electric vehicles to indigent youths across the state.

The vehicles, comprising 50 electric cars and 50 electric tricycles, were handed over in Lafia on Thursday. Governor Sule explained that the initiative is designed to provide economic opportunities for young people, enabling them to operate the vehicles as businesses while reducing unemployment.

“These vehicles and tricycles are fully powered by electricity, not petrol or gas. We have already established a charging centre at the new state secretariat in Lafia, and more will follow,” Sule announced.

The governor disclosed that additional charging centres will be built in Akwanga and Keffi to serve Nasarawa North and West Senatorial Districts, with further expansion planned across other local government areas.

According to him, the first batch of vehicles will be deployed to Lafia, Akwanga, and Keffi for use in conveying civil servants to their offices, as part of measures to cushion the impact of prevailing economic hardships.

Governor Sule assured that the programme would be scaled up to reach more beneficiaries in the near future.
