Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropped from 35 to 40 in the most recent FIFA world rankings, which were revealed on Thursday.
The Super Eagles also fell in the rankings for Africa, where they are currently ranked sixth, according to the official FIFA website.
Guinea-Bissau moved up to position 113 after shocking the Eagles on match day three of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers in Abuja.
Sierra Leone, the Eagles’ next opponent in the AFCON qualifiers, dropped all the way to number 117.
Atlas Lions of Morocco, semi-finalists at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, remained ranked first in Africa and eleventh overall.
AFCON champions Teranga Lions of Senegal moved up to 18 while Tunisia rose to 28 in the world ranking and third in Africa.

Meanwhile, world champions Argentina are back at the summit of the FIFA ranking for the first time in over six years.
Argentina leapfrogged Brazil after enjoying friendly wins over Panama and Curaçao at the same time as their old rivals were losing to Morocco.
France also moved past Brazil after beating the Netherlands and the Republic of Ireland in their opening UEFA EURO qualifiers.
The next FIFA men’s world ranking will be published on 20 July 2023.
