The Obidients Movement visited Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, on Monday. Ortom welcomed them to The People’s House in Makurdi’s New Banquet Hall.

The Governor expressed his sincere gratitude for the visit and said he felt fulfilled for having fought for a just cause in the effort to create a new Nigeria where equity, fairness, and justice would be assured for all citizens.

He said he has no regrets over the temporary turnabout in his personal political fortunes, adding that the fight for a better Nigeria is still going on. He also praised the Obidients for working with the PDP to win the governorship and state assembly elections on March 18, 2023.

By citing the success of the Anti Open Grazing Bill, which to date has seen 26 states follow in the footsteps of Benue under his administration, Governor Ortom expressed pleasure that he had not only won the election but also the fight for a free Nigeria.

He urged the crowd to stand up and vote for the Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba/Sir John Ngbede ticket on March 18.

The governor praised Uba as well, calling him a man of courage who had successfully led the 8th Benue State Assembly and had steadfastly worked for the passage of the Anti-Open Grazing Bill, which he has promised to uphold if elected governor.

In his remarks, Uba thanked the Obidients for their support of Governor Ortom and the Benue PDP family in ensuring that he wins on March 18th. At the same time, he emphasized that because he had supported the governor throughout his entire administration, he had the necessary level of experience to succeed him and carry on in the governor’s footsteps.

Dr. Chukwuemeka Nweze, the Obidients’ leader in Benue, had earlier said that the group’s goal was to honor Governor Ortom, whom he regarded as a great Nigerian who willingly stood up for a lofty principle and paid the supreme price by risking his Senate aspirations.

It’s been a while since I’ve been here, but I’m back.

The governorship campaigns of Engr. Titus Tyoapine Uba and Sir John Ngbede in the Saturday, March 18, 2023 elections have the support of all Obedients in Benue State, according to Dr. Nweze.
