Senator Jim Nwobodo, a former governor of the former Anambra State, has denounced the opposition politicians in Enugu State for engaging in a campaign of slander.

In response to the certificate forgery accusation against Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial candidate Barr. Peter Mbah, Nwobodo reportedly spoke to journalists in his Amaechi country home.

Mbah is accused of providing a fake National Youth Service Corps, or NYSC, discharge certificate; he has refuted this accusation.

Speaking to journalists, Nwobodo emphasized that although they had problems, neither he nor the late C.C. Onoh had ever engaged in a campaign of defamation during their political careers.

When he learned about Mbah’s alleged certificate forgery, the former governor claimed he was extremely concerned.

“I was anxious and very concerned when I heard the news. Tell me the truth, I pleaded with Peter over the phone. He assured me it wasn’t true. He admitted to participating in the NYSC and receiving his certificate.

“He sent me photos he took while at the NYSC orientation camp in Lagos State, too. Every piece of evidence is present.

He said, “I am pleading with politicians to put an end to this kind of politics; we didn’t do this during our own time.

The State PDP Chairman, Augustine Nnamani, and the Director General of the PDP Campaign Organization, Ikeja Asogwa, surrounded Nwobodo during the media chat. Nwobodo urged the media to always go above and beyond in verifying reports before going public.
