Peter Obi: Tinubu’s victory in presidential election wasn’t God’s will

The victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu is not God’s will, according to Labour Party, LP presidential candidate Peter Obi.

God, according to Obi, wanted the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, to hold an election that was trustworthy, free, and fair.

When asked if he agreed with some religious leaders who claimed that God wanted Tinubu to win, Obi responded, “What they are actually preaching is the problem of Nigeria. Nigeria’s issue is its acceptance of wrongdoing and unacceptable behavior.

“That is a misuse of the name of God. God is not saying that at all. Do not take my name in vain, God commanded.

Therefore, what they are asserting is not God’s wish or plan for Nigeria.

“Pastors are preaching about Nigeria’s problems, but that is not what God wants for Nigeria. Is our lack of electricity and high mortality rate God’s will?

“We have clear laws regarding how the election should be conducted; it is not God’s will that we act improperly. We want God’s will to be carried out as intended.

Is it God’s will that we steal votes or hold invalid elections?

Aisha Buhari, the first lady of Nigeria, referred to Tinubu’s victory after the results of Saturday’s presidential election as being in accordance with God’s will.
