NNPP Leader Condemns Plateau Wedding Guests Killing, Describes The Act as Barbaric

Former Governor of Kano State and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has strongly condemned the killing of at least 12 wedding guests in Plateau State, describing the act as a “barbaric mob action.”
The victims, all from the Basawa community in Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, were reportedly attacked in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State while returning from a wedding ceremony on Saturday.
In a statement posted on his official X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Kwankwaso expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called for immediate action.
“I am saddened by the barbaric mob action on wedding-goers in Plateau State, which has resulted in the death of at least 12 travelers from Basawa community of Zaria LGA of Kaduna State,” he wrote.
He described the incident as another heartbreaking example of innocent travelers losing their lives at the hands of violent elements along Nigerian transit routes.
Calling on authorities at both state and federal levels, he urged the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government to swiftly investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“Authorities in Plateau State and the Federal Government must ensure that the perpetrators of this attack are fished out and prosecuted,” he emphasized.
Kwankwaso also appealed to traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts in educating the public against mob violence, which he said threatens national unity and peace.
“My deepest sympathies go to the bereaved families,” he added.
The NNPP leader further extended his condolences to those affected by the explosion that occurred in Kano on Saturday.
