On Friday, President Muhammadu Buhari gave President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu a comprehensive tour of the State House. The purpose of the tour was to acquaint Tinubu with the location of the nation’s seat of power.

Following their participation in the Juma’at prayers held at the State House Mosque, both leaders travelled to see one another.

Ambassador Lawal Kazaure, the State Chief of Protocols (SCoP), was the one who led President Buhari and his successor on the tour. They were accompanied on the excursion by a sizeable entourage consisting of officials from the Presidency and members of the security force.

As soon as they entered the Press Gallery, which is located right next to the Council Chambers, the two leaders took a few moments to pause their conversation, during which time they listened intently to their guide, Ambassador Kazaure.
On the other hand, they avoided making conversation with the State House correspondents who were waiting nearby and eager to ask questions.

A similar tour is said to have taken place in the Vice President’s Wing of the State House on Thursday, where Vice President Yemi Osinbajo introduced the Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima, to the premises. This was reported to have taken place.
This action by President Buhari to show President-elect Tinubu around the State House reflects a significant step in the transition process, and it will help to foster a smooth handover of power.
