Wike criticizes Atiku for wooing Rivers residents in Abuja

According to Governor Nyesom Wike, it is absurd for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, to portray Rivers State as dangerous while urging citizens to cast their ballots for him on Saturday.

According to the governor, Rivers voters will cast their ballots for the presidential candidate they believe will work to keep Nigeria united on February 25.

Speaking at the flag-off for the reconstruction and dualization of Emohua Road to Abalama/Tema Junction at Ogbakiri Junction in Emohua Council, Wike declared that nothing could change his and the voters of Rivers’ decision to that effect.

Rivers State governor said the people summoned and addressed by presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in Abuja over the weekend are not true Rivers State citizens. If such people claim they are truly from the State, he challenged them to return home and be addressed by the presidential candidate as such.

Wike described as unacceptable such summoning of people, who have made themselves non-indigenes in Abuja. According to him, it is an insult to Rivers State and its people for anyone who is seeking for their vote to summon them for a meeting outside of the state.
According to Wike, the PDP presidential candidate would be morally wrong to solicit support from Rivers State if he is unable to visit the state and address the populace due to his designation of the area as unsafe.

“Is it not offensive that you are speaking to Rivers people in Abuja? You cannot visit Rivers State to speak with us. Even though you claim Rivers State is not secure, you still want their support. Will you let that through, Rivers people? Those seeking your votes are the ones who have deemed our state unsafe. Unfortunately, this. That insult won’t be accepted by any rational Rivers.
