Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate for the 2023 election, criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday for allegedly using religion to polarize Nigerians.

Atiku blamed the ruling APC for the “sacrilegious picture” of himself superimposed onto the image of Jesus Christ that has gone viral on social media in a statement sent to him and signed on his behalf by his media adviser, Paul Ibe.

The following is a portion of Atiku’s statement: “APC are exhausted because they wasted their goodwill and even their campaign of lies and propaganda is not working for them. Nigerians have seen the light enough not to be fooled by such desperate last ditch tactics of a soldier about to kiss the dust any longer.

I am not your enemy; rather, your adversary is your own appalling track record in terms of safety, education, job creation, unemployment, and unity.

“Your greatest downfall is your own track record of performance.

“The election of 2023 is a vote of confidence in the APC. Nigerians are wiser; it is ineffective to use religion to polarize the populace.
