Festus Keyamo (SAN), the state’s minister of labor and productivity, has provided an explanation for why he isn’t listed among the top attorneys supporting Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s election triumph.
Recall that on Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) published a list of 50 attorneys who will defend Tinubu.
Former Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, President Wole Olanipekun is in charge of the legal team. At the presidential election tribunal, the legal legend will lead 49 other attorneys in defending Tinubu’s victory.

Olanipekun, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), worked with other eminent lawyers to guarantee that Tinubu defeated his bitter rivals Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who had contested his victory.
With 8, 794,726 votes, Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, defeated Atiku and Obi, who finished second and third with 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes, respectively, in the Saturday, February 25, presidential election.
Last week’s Wednesday saw him receive a Certificate of Return from Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of the Independent National Election Commission, INEC.
In a post on his verified Twitter account on Tuesday, Keyamo, who also serves as the spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, provided an explanation for why his name wasn’t included on the list of 50 candidates. He claimed that the Nigerian Constitution forbade serving ministers from taking on such positions.

He pointed out that active members of the cabinet can only join the Election Petition team after the May 29 handover deadline.
