Tinubu will be third African president to be sacked by court: Atiku campaign
Following allegations of vote rigging in the recently held presidential elections, the Atiku Abubakar campaign council has declared that Nigeria will be the next African nation to annul a presidential election, which resulted in Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) winning the position.
Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized Tinubu as the election’s victor despite objections from the opposition political parties, who have since sued to overturn the result of the vote.
The failure of INEC to electronically transmit the results of the election from 176,606 polling places to a public portal in accordance with the commission’s regulations and guidelines was one of the grounds for the losing parties’ dispute.
A spokesperson for the Atiku campaign, Daniel Bwala, expressed optimism in a tweet that the alleged vote-rigging in Nigeria’s presidential election on February 25, 2023, will result in its annulment.
He continued by saying that after Kenya and Mali, Nigeria would be the third African nation to annul a presidential election.
This is in fact a very historic day for the people of Kenya and, by extension, the people of the continent of Africa, according to the Supreme Court of Kenya, which declared the presidential elections invalid for the first time in Africa.
“A court decision invalidating a president who was elected in a way that was not legal was made for the first time in the history of African democratization. It signaled a turning point for the future of democracy in Africa. The Malawi Supreme Court then adopted the same practice. Nigeria is next; please save this post, he continued.
Kenya was the first nation in Africa and the third country overall, after Austria, the Maldives, and Russia, to declare a presidential election invalid in 2017.
Despite some international observers rating the election as free and fair, the country’s Supreme Court declared President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election null and void.
After winning the country’s 2019 presidential election, Peter Mutharika, the former president of Malawi, was ousted from office by a constitutional court.

A new election must be held within 150 days after the court declared the presidential election results invalid due to evidence of irregularities. Lazarus Chakwera defeated Mutharika in the rematch.
